Rounding Up Past a Nine Worksheet Download

This math worksheet practices the hardest case of rounding: rounding up when the digit in the rounding place is a 9. The 9 cannot become 10, so it turns to 0 and the next place goes up by one - 397 rounds to 400, 2,963 to 3,000, and 9,960 to 10,000. Every problem crosses a nine, rounding to the nearest ten, hundred or thousand, and some have several nines in a row. The answer key shows the thinking, such as 29 hundreds rounding up to 30 hundreds.
